Things are about to get a little saucy in here… ?
I get pretty excited by food in general but, when it comes like this (and by this I mean a creamy, delicious, nutrient packing and all round awesome sauce) then I’ll become absolutely bonkers.
And, if you’ve been following this here humble blog in any shape or form over the past few months you will know, in some degree or other, that I am stark-raving mad about this 5 Minute Red Pepper sauce.
The craziness started five months ago when I first introduced you to this saucy wonder. And after 5 months of continuously making this sauce (and churning out several recipes to use it with) I’m still mad about it. Madmadmadmadmad! ?
And, to make things even crazier around here, I’ve perfected this Roasted Red Pepper recipe to make it even more irresistible. Just as superheroes receive the reboot treatment and return to our movie screens bigger, faster, stronger and so much better each and every time; this roasted red pepper sauce has donned it’s brand new, rebooted cape and is ready to fight food and taste related crimes one meal at a time.
Say hello to 5 Minute Roasted Red Pepper sauce – 2.0. ????
So why is this sauce so unbelievably amazing. Well, I’m a food blogger so, of course I’m going to tell you!
You may have made your favourite recipes with a tomato (or even cheese) based sauce for so long that they’re getting a little same-same and a little boring.
You know what I mean; It’s getting to the point where you feel like a) trying new recipes but b) don’t have the time, the energy or really the patience to be testing new recipes. It’s quite the conundrum; if only there was a simple solution….
Umm – hello ? – just swap out that tomato based sauce (or, again, the cheese based sauce or even that can of chopped tomatoes) and throw in this roasted red pepper sauce instead and – right before your eyes and drool covered tastebuds – a whole other meal that you’ve never tasted before comes to the dinner table.
Healthy is a broad and debated term but, I’m going to say it: This sauce is healthy.
This roasted red pepper sauce is the epitome of Nude Food Cooking and, if you do indeed make it today (I mean, why wouldn’t you?) you will certainly have earned your nude food hero stripes.
It’s full of fresh, wholesome ingredients and really acts as a black canvas: you can add whatever you like to it. I added sunflower seeds because it is a super easy, super cheap way to stretch this sauce out even further but feel free to add other ingredients instead such as:
- cashew nuts
- feta cheese – or any other cheese
- any nut, seed, grain of your choice
Now the real reason we really love this sauce is how quick and easy it is. Seriously, gather your ingredients, throw them into your food processor or blender and blitz until you have a sauce… it’s that simple.
5 minutes from zero to sauce-slurping hero; there is no better time to be alive. ???
Now before we go on I would like to explain the 5 minutes. By five minutes I mean 5 minutes of active prep time. You know, the actual time you will be spent physically in the kitchen preparing this sauce.
There is however, the small detail of roasting red peppers. Now you have two options for this:
- You buy your own fresh Red Peppers and roast them yourself – which adds an extra 20 or so minutes of passive cooking time (a perfect time for getting on with other household tasks or, say, phone games!); or
- You buy ready roasted red peppers (you know the ones in the jar in olive oil) and use them instead which brings this recipe back to a quick 5 minutes from start to finish.
Of course, option #1 is the optimum solution to this problem but we all have busy lives and sometimes we just want to have our red Pepper sauce, like, right now!
I get it!
If I have failed to sell this saucy-brilliance to you (like, how?), or you need a little inspiration of how to use this 5 minute roasted red pepper sauce then here are seven Nude Food Hero recipes to get you started.
